Mt. Vernon Illinois Man Sentenced for Role in Marijuana and Cocaine Conspiracy

JUL 30 -- (EAST ST. LOUIS, IL) - A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced that on July 27, 2009, Justin KRIVI, a/k/a Justin Wheeler, age 29, of Mt. Vernon, IL, was sentenced in the United States District Court in East St. Louis for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute marijuana and cocaine; possession with intent to distribute cocaine; and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

KRIVI pled guilty to the offenses on May 13, 2009, during the middle of a trial which had started two days earlier. KRIVI was sentenced to 262 months of imprisonment, 5 years supervised release, fined $600, and ordered to pay a $300 special assessment. All federal sentences are served without possibility of parole. Supervised release is served after the completion of the term of incarceration. In addition, a forfeiture order was entered and KRIVI agreed to forfeit $500,000 in cash, real property located at 306 Kavanaugh, Pocahontas, Illinois, and a 2001, Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Illinois State Police under the auspices of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ranley R. Killian.
