friendly page] Chicago Man Sentenced for Role in Crack Cocaine Conspiracy
AUG 20 -- (BENTON, IL) - A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on August 20, 2009, Clarence G. GOREE, a/k/a “Whitey,” and “Rico,” age 34, of Chicago, Illinois, was sentenced in United States District Court in Benton, Illinois. GOREE, who had previously pled guilty to a one-count superseding indictment charging him with conspiracy to distribute more than 50 grams of crack cocaine, was sentenced to 288 months imprisonment, 5 years supervised release, and was fined $300. The offense occurred between February 2003 and April 27, 2006, in Jackson and Jefferson Counties, Illinois. Seven co-defendants have previously been sentenced to prison terms ranging from 120 months to 262 months for their respective roles in the crack cocaine conspiracy. One co-defendant remains a fugitive. The investigation is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) operation and is being conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Murphysboro Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Marshals Service, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Amanda A. Robertson. |
