friendly page] St. Louis Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment on Conspiracy to Distribute and Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine and Crack Cocaine
SEPT 8 -- (EAST ST. LOUIS, IL) - A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced that on September 4, 2009, Gary STEVENSON, age 34, of Saint Louis, Missouri, was sentenced to mandatory life imprisonment, a special assessment of $100 and a fine of $500. STEVENSON was convicted on March 6, 2009, following a jury trial in United States District Court in East St. Louis, of one count of conspiracy to distribute and one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine base, commonly referred to as “crack” cocaine and cocaine. The jury returned special verdicts that the amount of cocaine involved was over 5 kilograms and the amount of “crack” cocaine was over 50 grams. The investigation was conducted under the auspices of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Federal Bureau of Investigation as the main agencies. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel T. Kapsak. |
