Alton, Illinois Man Sentenced for Selling Crack Cocaine

OCT 15 -- (EAST ST. LOUIS, IL) - A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced that on October 14, 2009, Wendell JOHNSON , a/k/a “Dollar” age 34, of Alton, Illinois, was sentenced in United States District Court in East St. Louis, Illinois.

JOHNSON was sentenced to a term of 300 months in prison, ordered to pay a $200 fine, placed on supervised release for a period of 6 years after his release from prison, and order to pay a $200 special assessment.

JOHNSON was convicted on June 11, 2009, of two counts of Distribution of Crack Cocaine following a two-day jury trial. The offenses occurred on February 12 and February 26, 2009 in Alton, Illinois.

The investigation was conducted by the Alton, Illinois Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Donald S. Boyce.
