Colp, Illinois Man Pleads Guilty to Distributing Cocaine

NOV 06 -- A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on November 5, 2009, James S. HUBBARD, Jr., a/k/a “Bo, ” age 33, of Colp, Illinois, pled guilty to a one-count superseding indictment charging him with conspiracy to distribute cocaine. The violation took place between 2005 and June 2009, in Williamson and Saline Counties. The offense carries a penalty of 20 years to life imprisonment, a fine of up to $8,000,000, and a term of 10 years supervised release. HUBBARD is being held without bond pending a February 18, 2010, sentencing hearing.

Co-defendant, Matthew A. WAGNER , age 32, of Carterville, Illinois, made his initial appearance on the federal conspiracy charge on November 3, 2009.

The investigation is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) operation and is being conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Murphysboro Police Department, Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Division, Drug Enforcement Administration, Illinois State Police and Southern Illinois Enforcement Group. In addition, the Williamson and Jackson County States Attorney’s Offices have assisted throughout the investigation.

The case is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Amanda A. Robertson for prosecution.
