DEA SEIZES 100 Kilograms of Cocaine, 15 Firearms, $291,902 US Currency and Arrests One Individual

JUN 21 -- SAN JUAN, P.R. - Jerome M. Harris, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Caribbean Division, and Rosa E. Rodriguez, United States Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico, today jointly announced the arrest of Felix Perocier-Cabo in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Perocier-Cabo was charged with Possession with Intent to distribute approximately 25 kilograms of cocaine.

The arrest warrant was issued by U.S. Magistrate Judge Marcos Lopez pursuant to a criminal complaint on Wednesday, June 20, 2007. According to the investigation, agents of the Police of Puerto Rico (PRPD), assigned to the Bayamon Strike Force and the Bayamon Drugs and Narcotics Division, maintained surveillance of a residence located at #6 Calle 12, Reparto Flamingo, Bayamon, PR, which was allegedly being used as a “stash house” for illegal drugs and weapons. The agents observed Perocier-Cabo and other unknown individuals arrive at the residence and shortly thereafter exiting with a gym bag and departing in a mini-van. The agents followed the mini-van to a second residence in Barrio Ingenio in Toa Baja, PR. Upon noticing the agent’s approaching the vehicle, the unknown individuals fled the scene. The agents took Perocier-Cabo into custody at the second residence in Toa Baja, PR and recovered the gym bag from the mini-van, which contained 25 kilograms of cocaine. The agents also seized $2,112.00 in U.S. Currency.

PRPD requested the assistance of the DEA. DEA agents obtained and executed a federal search warrant at the suspected “stash house” located at #6 Calle 12, Reparto Flamingo, in Bayamon, PR, and recovered 75 kilograms of cocaine, 15 firearms, 2 of which had obliterated serial numbers, and $289, 790.00 in U.S. Currency. DEA also took custody of Perocier-Cabo and of the cocaine and money seized by the PRPD from him. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) joined the investigation and took custody of all the firearms. The investigation continues with the assistance of PRPD and the ATF.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Timothy Henwood. The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial and the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
