Harwood
Pleds Guilty to Gun and Drug Charges
MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA (MAR 25)
- United States Attorney Sheldon J. Sperling announced that on March
25, 2005, TODD ARMON HARWOOD, age 29, of
Lewisville, Texas, entered a plea of guilty in the United States District
Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, at Muskogee, to a seven count
felony Indictment.
HARWOOD was charged
with Possession and Distribution of Listed Chemicals, Possession with
Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Marijuana, Felon in Possession
of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking
Crime,
Bribery of a Witness, and Tampering with a Witness.
HARWOOD was originally
charged in a five count Indictment with the drug and gun charges which
were a result of a traffic stop in Choctaw County at the
junction
of state highways 271 and 109. The Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office had
information at the time of the traffic stop that HARWOOD had been distributing
large quantities of methamphetamine in the Hugo area. A Hugo Police Department
K-9 alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics at the time of the traffic stop.
Following a search of the vehicle, deputies located a large quantity of psuedoephrine,
methamphetamine, marijuana, and a pistol.
Following an investigation
by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, HARWOOD was later
charged with two additional counts, Bribery and Witness
Tampering. The investigation revealed an offer by HARWOOD to pay a witness
between $1,000.00
and $1,500.00 for false testimony in his case.
Sentencing will
be scheduled after the completion of a presentence investigation. HARWOOD
faces a possible term of imprisonment of up to Life, a term of
supervised release of up to Life, and a fines totaling $3,500,000.00. |
