Investigation Leads to Addition of Child Abuse Charges in Drug
Case
Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has filed formal
charges today in connection with a drug bust conducted by the Drug Enforcement
Administration and the Denver Police Dept. at which a baby was present.
Sergio
Rodriguez-Garza (DOB: 11-20-76) and Marya Nunez-Carrillo (DOB:
08-12-64) are each charged with two counts of conspiracy to distribute
a controlled substance (F3), two counts of possession of a controlled
substance with intent to distribute (F3), two counts of possession
of a controlled substance (F4) and one count of child abuse (M2).
Justin
Colson (DOB: 11-30-84), Sergio Gomez (DOB: 01-13-81) and Fabian
Chavez (DOB: 08-18-76) are each charged with two counts of conspiracy
to distribute a controlled substance.
The charges allege
that all five people conspired to sell 1.5 kilograms of cocaine in
a drug deal on June 28, 2005 in the 3000 block of West
Evans Avenue. The charges further allege that Rodriguez-Garza and Nunez-Carillo
brought Nunez-Carillo’s 3-month old grandson with them to the negotiations
and transactions that were part of the drug dealing.
