Jeffrey D. Sweetin
Special Agent in Charge
Denver Field Division
On
January 12, 2003, Special Agent Jeffrey D. Sweetin was appointed to
the Senior Executive Service of the United States of America as the
Special Agent in Charge of the Denver Field Division for the Drug Enforcement
Administration (DEA). The Denver Field Division encompasses eleven
offices in four states including Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Montana.
Mr. Sweetin is responsible for the agency's daily enforcement operations,
drug diversion investigations, and administers DEA policy through three
(3) Assistant Special Agents in Charge and a Diversion Program Manager.
Special Agent Sweetin began his law enforcement career in 1982 as an
Officer in the Arlington County Virginia Police Department where he served
in various capacities as uniform patrol, SWAT and plain-clothes investigations.
Mr. Sweetin entered on duty as a Special Agent with the Drug Enforcement
Administration in 1986 and was assigned to the Washington D.C. Division
Office and subsequently to the Ft. Lauderdale District Office and the
Office of Training, Quantico, VA. While assigned to the Office of Training,
Mr. Sweetin developed DEA's Ethics and Professionalism Program and initiated
training in Post-Shooting Response for Agents and Supervisors.
In 1995, Mr. Sweetin was assigned to the Miami Field Division as a Group
Supervisor for the Florida Joint Task Force/Vice President's Task Force
and held positions as the Supervisor for DEA Enforcement Group 15 and
the Mobile Enforcement Team (MET) through 1998.
He later served as Staff Coordinator for the Mobile Enforcement Team
Program at DEA Headquarters and in 1999 was assigned as Executive Assistant
to DEA's Chief of Operations at DEA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
In July 2002, Mr. Sweetin was promoted to the Denver Field Division as
Assistant Special Agent in Charge.
Mr. Sweetin holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice that he received
in 1982 from Towson State University, Baltimore, Maryland, and has attended
George Washington University Graduate School eventually earning a Masters
Degree in Education from the University of Virginia in 1994. He has been
married to his wife Donna and has two sons Michael and T.J.
