friendly page] Greenville Man Pleads Guilty to Possession JUN 3 -- LOUISVILLE, KY - Gary L. Lear, age 42, of 11635 State Route 175 South, Greenville, Kentucky, in Muhlenberg County, pled guilty to possession with the intent to distribute more than 5 grams of methamphetamine for the purpose of resale, U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today. Lear admitted that on May 19, 2007, he possessed more than 5 grams of methamphetamine in a truck he was driving which had been stopped by Kentucky State Police Troopers in a routine road block. Street value of the methamphetamine is $800. The maximum potential penalties are 40 years imprisonment, a $2,000,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of 5 years; and the minimum potential penalties are 5 years imprisonment, a $2,000,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of 5 years. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Randy Ream, and it was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Kentucky State Police. The plea was entered before Joseph H. McKinley, Jr., Judge, United States District Court, Owensboro, Kentucky. Lear is scheduled to be sentenced before Judge McKinley on August 29, 2008, at 9:00 a.m., in Owensboro, Kentucky. ### |
