Louisville Man Indicted On Crack Cocaine Charges
- Ronald Johnson faces mandatory ten-year sentence

JUN 12 -- (Louisville, KY) - A federal grand jury in Louisville, returned an indictment on June 2, 2008, against Ronald Melvin Johnson, age 31, of 4817 St. Leo Place, Louisville, Kentucky, on two charges of distributing "crack" cocaine, U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.

The Indictment alleges that on or about April 30, 2008, Johnson distributed five grams or more of crack cocaine in Bullitt County. The Indictment also alleges that on May 20, 2008, Johnson distributed more than fifty grams of crack cocaine in Jefferson County. The street value of the drugs likely exceeds $5,500, based upon a street value of approximately $100 per gram.

In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are Life imprisonment, a $12,000,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of 10 years. The minimum penalty required by statute is 10 years imprisonment.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John E. Kuhn, Jr., and it was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Hardin County Drug Task Force.
