Judge Sentences Gordon Cox to 20 years in Prison

Chief U.S. District Judge Helen Gillmor sentenced defendant Gordon Lee Cox, II, (age: 39) on July 7, 2006 to an imprisonment term of 240 months (20 years). Cox had previously pled guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and two counts of money laundering. These charges related to Cox’s arrest on February 25, 2005. Approximately 761.3 grams of crystal methamphetamine was recovered from the automobile Cox was using at that time. In addition, $1,023,313 in cash-– all of which were drug proceeds–- was seized from Cox’s person, vehicle, two apartments and bank safety deposit boxes. The money laundering charges involved Cox’s prior purchase of two automobile with drug proceeds. All of this cash and the two vehicles have been forfeited to the United States.

United States Attorney Edward H. Kubo, Jr., praised the efforts of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Honolulu Police Department, and the Hawaii HIDTA Group in investigating this case.
