John
J. Bryfonski
Special Agent in Charge
Philadelphia Field Division
Special
Agent in Charge John J. Bryfonski was appointed
to the Drug Enforcement Administration’s
(DEA) Philadelphia Field Division in April
2009 and is responsible for directing and
leading Federal drug enforcement efforts
throughout the states of Pennsylvania and
Delaware.
Special
Agent in Charge Bryfonski began his career
with DEA in 1984, after serving several years
in local law enforcement in both uniform
and investigative positions. During his career
with DEA, Mr. Bryfonski served as a Special
Agent assigned to the Hartford, Connecticut
and Portland, Maine Resident Offices. He
was promoted to Group Supervisor at the Tucson,
Arizona District Office in 1995, where he
served until he was reassigned to Headquarters
in 1999, as an Inspector in DEA’s Office
of Professional Responsibility where he conducted
internal affairs related investigations.
While assigned to the Office of Professional
Responsibility, Mr. Bryfonski was promoted
to Senior Inspector and Associate Deputy
Chief Inspector.
In
September 2002, Mr. Bryfonski was reassigned
as the first Assistant Special Agent in Charge
of the Albany, New York, District Office,
which is part of DEA’s New York Field
Division. In his capacity as Assistant Special
Agent in Charge, Mr. Bryfonski was responsible
for DEA’s operations throughout the
upstate New York region including offices
in Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo and Plattsburgh,
New York.
In
September 2005, Mr. Bryfonski was promoted
to DEA’s Senior Executive Service as
Deputy Chief Inspector, Office of Professional
Responsibility, at DEA Headquarters. In this
capacity, Mr. Bryfonski was responsible for
all internal affairs investigations of DEA
employees, task force officers and contractors,
conducted by six teams of Inspectors assigned
to DEA Headquarters as well as Office of
Professional Responsibility Field Offices
in Newark, New Jersey; Plantation, Florida;
Dallas, Texas; and Los Angeles, California.
Mr. Bryfonski served as DEA’s Deputy
Chief Inspector, Office of Professional Responsibility.
In April of 2009, Mr. Bryfonski was promoted
to Special Agent in Charge of the Philadelphia
Division which is responsible for DEA operations
throughout the states of Pennsylvania and
Delaware.
Special
Agent in Charge Bryfonski graduated from
the University of Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut
in 1977, and received a Masters Degree in
Public Administration from the University
of Hartford in 1987. He is also a Commercial
Pilot and a Certified Flight Instructor. |
