friendly page] Man Pleads Guilty to Attempted Possession of MAY 1 -- (ANCHORAGE) – DEA Special Agent in Charge Rodney G. Benson announced today that Jason Michael Wilson, a resident of Anchorage, Alaska pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of attempted possession of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) with intent to distribute. DEA Special Agents and officers from the Anchorage Airport Police arrested Wilson after he took possession of what he thought was a package containing LSD. Officers intercepted the package before it was delivered to Wilson at 1102 C Street in Anchorage. The package originally contained approximately five milliliters of liquid LSD, which equates to approximately five grams and would have been the equivalent of several hundred “hits” of acid. Wilson, who has “Dead Head” tattooed on the fingers of his right and left hands, a reference to the band The Grateful Dead, proclaimed “Sweet!” when he received the package from an officer posing as a postal service employee. The agents arrested Wilson shortly after his proclamation. According to DEA Special Agent in Charge Rodney G. Benson, the interception of this package was unique not only because of the amount of LSD involved, but also because of the form in which it arrived. Law enforcement has typically encountered LSD sold on either tabs of paper or on small candies, rather than in a liquid form. Wilson pleaded guilty before United States District Court Judge Timothy Burgess. Wilson is scheduled to be sentenced on July 12, 2007. The law provides for a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and a statutory maximum of 40 years imprisonment. Under Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offense and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant. The investigation was conducted by the DEA and Anchorage Airport Police Department. |
