page] California Man Sentenced for Methamphetamine Trafficking (Alexandria, VA) – Sergio Adrian Sicairos, 28, of Pomona, California, was sentenced today to 235 months in federal prison by United States District Judge Gerald Bruce Lee based on convictions for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and conspiracy to commit money laundering. United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, Chuck Rosenberg, announced the sentence as part of “Operation Pacific Ice,” which has resulted in 15 convictions to date in the Eastern District of Virginia. According to court documents, Sicairos was the principal supplier of the Leslie Santos crystal methamphetamine trafficking organization, operating primarily within the Filipino communities in northern Virginia, Virginia Beach and Jersey City, New Jersey. From 2002 through 2004, Sicairos shipped over 100 pounds of pure crystal methamphetamine to Santos and his two associates, Ronnel San Jose ("Jake") and Floro San Jose Hernandez ("J.R."), who were operating out of northern Virginia and Maryland. Sicairos also employed others to receive hundreds of thousands of dollars in wire transfers and bulk cash shipments of drug proceeds, which he then collected and used to obtain more crystal methamphetamine. Ronnel San Jose and Floro San Jose Hernandez, who both also carried and trafficked in firearms, previously received sentences of 352 months of imprisonment. Santos is due to be sentenced on February 23, 2007. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Postal Inspection Service, Internal Revenue Service, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Arlington County, Virginia, Police Department, and Montgomery County, Maryland, Police Department participated in this investigation. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel Grooms and Department of Justice Trial Attorney Stephen Sola. |
