DEA Official to Give Red Ribbon Presentation at Southern Virginia School

(Washington, D.C.)- Mr. Michael J. Turner, Staff Coordinator for the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Demand Reduction Program will give two, 45-minute presentations to 800 students at Prince Edwards Middle School in Farmville, Virginia beginning at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, October 27th. Farmville is located 60 miles Southwest of Richmond.

The presentations are part of the Red Ribbon Campaign which is the nation’s largest drug prevention effort. Red Ribbon Week began after drug traffickers in Mexico kidnapped, tortured and brutally murdered DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena in March 1985.

The Red Ribbon Campaign is dedicated to helping to preserve Special Agent Camarena's memory and further the cause for which he gave his life, the fight against the violence of drug crime and the misery of addiction. By gathering together in special events and wearing a Red Ribbon during the last week in October, Americans from all walks of life demonstrate their opposition to drugs.
