Background Investigations
DEA, in its unique capacity as the world's eminent drug law enforcement agency, identifies, investigates, and targets for prosecution, organizations and individuals responsible for the production and distribution of illegal drugs. In many cases, our work is sensitive in nature. Therefore, all employees are required to go through an extensive background investigation. Once you have received and accepted a conditional offer of employment, DEA will initiate a background investigation. This investigation includes a credit and criminal records check; interviews of you, co-workers, employers, personal friends, educators, neighbors; and for some occupations a polygraph examination.
