Sockeye Salmon Fun Facts:

• Sockeye salmon are anadromous, living part of their lives in freshwater and part of their lives in saltwater.

• Sockeye salmon spawn only once.

• When adult sockeye are ready to spawn, they typically turn bright red, with a green head; hence they are commonly called "red" salmon in Alaska.
