The Land Acquisition Section secured sites for the expansion of a NASA launch facility in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The facility is the home of the John F. Kennedy Space Center, established in 1962, which has been the departure gate for every American manned shuttle ever launched into space.

Did you know? Apollo 11, the first lunar landing mission, was launched from the John F. Kennedy Space Station. Commander Neil Armstrong stepped onto the moon’s surface at 10:56 p.m. on July 16, 1969.
