LofthusAssistant Attorney General for Administration SUBJECT: Leadership Excellence and Achievement Program (LEAP) I am pleased to announce the Department's newest leadership development opportunity - the Leadership Excellence and Achievement Program (LEAP). LEAP is a mid-level, centrally- funded development program that is designed to provide a series of challenging experiences for approximately 30 DOJ employees who you believe have the potential to assume leadership positions within the next three years. The area of consideration and other important program information are included in the attached announcement. Since this program is intended to serve as an important succession planning tool, please nominate up to three employees that best meet your succession planning needs. We have prepared the attached announcement for you to circulate to eligible employees within your component. Since your employees will submit their applications directly to your Human Resources Staff or Training Office, please insert the appropriate contact information on page 3 of the program announcement prior to circulation. Each component will evaluate their applications and submit nominations to Mary Jones, JMD Personnel Staff by June 8, 2007. To ensure the success of this program, I ask for your support in providing mentors at the SES or GS-15 level from your component as well as meaningful developmental assignments that we can share with the participants. The JMD Personnel Staff has been working with your HR staffs in designing the program and will continue to work with them to seek mentors and developmental assignments. Thank you, in advance, for supporting this important program that will help DOJ develop the talent pool needed to fulfill our future mission requirements. |
