The
Marshals Service protects more than 2,000 sitting judges and
approximately 5,250 other court officials at over 400 court facilities
throughout the nation. Threats and inappropriate communications against
Judges, U.S. Attorneys and other court officers are investigated to
determine the level of danger. The Marshals Service conducts protective
details to ensure the safety of threatened persons, as well as
investigates and prosecutes those who make threats. The Marshals Service
also conducts investigations into suspicious items and security breaches
at courthouses nationwide.
