In June 2005, Dennis J. Erby retired as Lieutenant of Troop G from the
Mississippi Highway Patrol with over 29 years of credible service. In
addition to being Honorably Discharged as a Sergeant from the
Mississippi National Guard, he has a Bachelor of Science Degree from
Mississippi State University, and, is a member of the Golden Key
National Honor Society. He is a graduate of the National FBI Academy in
Quantico, Virginia, and has served in an executive capacity with several
community based organizations. In 2006, he was a guest lecturer at The
Orrin G. Hatch Distinguished Trial Lawyers Lecture Series in Salt Lake
City, Utah. On April 3, 2012, Dennis J. Erby was appointed by President Barack Obama as The United States Marshal for the Northern District of Mississippi. Based in Oxford, the Northern District of Mississippi encompasses 37 counties, and covers over 19,600 square miles. Marshal Erby’s district consist of 4 Federal Courthouses, 8 Judges, 35 Court Security Officers, 5 Administrative personnel, 14 Operational Deputy United States Marshals, and a branch of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force that has an additional 15 Officers, ready to assist as needed locally and nationally. |
