United States Marshal David S. Carpenter

David S. Carpenter, U.S. Marshal, D/North Dakota 

United States Marshal David S. Carpenter is a life long resident of North Dakota. Marshal Carpenter was born in Jamestown, ND in 1956 and lived in the Jametown area until graduating from Marium High School. Marshal Carpenter attend the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, eventually returning to Jamestown and joining the Jamestown Police Department in 1979.

After serving ten years as a Jamestown Police Officer, Marshal Carpenter joined the United States Marshals Service in 1989. He completed 15 weeks of basic training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and was stationed in Fargo ND. Marshal Carpenter worked out of the Fargo office until transferring to the Grand Forks Office in 1991. There, he was involved with the U.S. Airforce Missile Escort Program. In 1996 Marshal Carpenter transferred to the Bismarck ND, office where he established a U.S. Marshals Service position on the local drug task force.

David S. Carpenter was appointed United States Marshal for the District of North Dakota by President George W. Bush, August 8, 2002. Marshal Carpenter oversees fourteen deputy marshals, twenty court security officers and three administrative employees. He currently lives in the Bismarck, ND area with his wife and three children.
