  • October 28, 2009 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended wanted fugitive Jonathan Ward. Ward was wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police on charges of armed robbery. Ward also had outstanding charges with the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office for carrying a concealed weapon.
  • October 07, 2009 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force has tracked down wanted murder suspect Adrian Horn in Georgia. Horn was wanted by the Mansfield Division of Police for the murder of Kevin Moses on July 7, 2009. The Mansfield Police Department and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force have been working on the case since the date of the alleged murder.
  • October 07, 2009 - Leonardo “Joker” Rodriguez, 36 years of age, was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service Puerto Rico Fugitive Task Force in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico.  Within the last month, leads were developed that identified that Rodriguez was in Puerto Rico and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force requested assistance from the Puerto Rico Fugitive Task Force.  Rodriguez was wanted for Aggravated Robbery, Dangerous Drugs, and for Escape.
  • September 29, 2009 - Peter J. Elliott, U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio announces that the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, Lorain County Division apprehended violent fugitive Andres Arzola in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Arzola was wanted by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office for 12 counts of Armed Robbery and 12 counts of Kidnapping and he was also wanted by the Lorain Police Department for Felonious Assault, Aggravated Burglary and Kidnapping.
  • September 15, 2009 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force has tracked down another fugitive wanted for sex offenses. Fugitive Bobby Smith was wanted by the Mansfield Police Department and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force for sexual battery of a minor.
  • July 21, 2009 - Former Fugitive of the Week Carlos Williams was apprehended on Cleveland’s east side. Williams was profiled as the Fugitive of the Week this past April after he was named as a suspect in the armed robbery of the Rascal House Pizza shop in Euclid, Ohio. At the request of the Euclid Police Department, the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force began an intense search for Williams.
  • July 16, 2009 - Fugitive DeCharles Stephens thought that he could outrun the long arm of the law by hiding in Arizona. Today, he found out the hard way that the reach of the U.S. Marshals Service has no boundaries. Stephens was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Glendale, Arizona. On June 11, Stephens escaped from a City of Cleveland prisoner van as he was being transported between the city jail and the Cleveland House of Corrections. Stephens was in custody on charges of attempted murder with a firearm.
  • June 24, 2009 - U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott announces the capture of fugitive sex offender Robbi Potter, 27, along with the capture of associate Candace Watson, 24, and the safe recovery of 4 year old missing child Haylee Donathan. Yesterday, a tip was received by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, who then quickly responded to a Christian retreat center in Valley Center, Calif., where they were able to apprehend Potter and Watson and safely recover little Haylee without incident.
  • June 19, 2009 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is continuing the search for fugitive sex offender Robbi Potter, 27. Potter is a convicted sex offender who authorities believe is on the run with his girlfriend, Candace Watson, 24, and her 4-year-old daughter, Haylee Elizabeth Jade Donathan. The U.S. Marshals Task Force is now accepting tips on this case via text message. All tips are 100% anonymous and confidential. To send tips, text “POTTER” and the message to 847411 or TIP411.
  • June 18, 2009 - Wanted fugitive Deondray Crayton was apprehended by members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. Crayton was wanted for failing to appear for his arraignment on a federal weapons charge. Crayton was featured on Channel 3 News, and in Cleveland’s Plain Dealer as the Fugitive of the Week during the week of May 18, 2009.
  • June 15, 2009 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is now confirming the suspected truck in the case of fugitive sex offender Robbi Potter, 27, was captured on a surveillance camera at an Ampride gas station in Stratton, Colorado on June 2. This is the last confirmed sighting of the truck since it was previously seen at a Wal-Mart in Marion, Ohio on May 31. Potter is a convicted sex offender who authorities believe is on the run with his girlfriend, Candace Watson, 24, and her 3-year-old daughter, Haylee Elizabeth Jade Donathan.
  • June 11, 2009 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is on the hunt for fugitive Robbi Douglas Potter, 27. Potter is a convicted sex offender who authorities believe is on the run with his girlfriend and her 3-year-old daughter. Potter is wanted on a state warrant for parole violation and on a federal warrant for probation violation.
  • June 09, 2009 - Cuyahoga County Sheriff Bob Reid, Cleveland Police Chief Michael McGrath and U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott announce the arrest of violent fugitive Khalid K. Swanson. Swanson, age 34, was wanted by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant dated April 30, 2009, charging him with robbery, kidnapping, having weapons under disability, trafficking drugs, drug possession and possession of criminal tools.
  • May 21, 2009 - Cuyahoga County Sheriff Robert Reid, Cleveland Police Chief Michael McGrath and U.S. Marshal Peter Elliott announce the arrest of violent fugitive Osvaldo Ortiz. Ortiz was apprehended as he de-boarded a plane at JFK International Airport in New York. Deputy U.S. Marshals assigned to the New York / New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, made famous in the current A&E television series Manhunters, acted swiftly on information provided to them this morning by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in an effort to arrest Ortiz.
  • April 29, 2009 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended Camari Warmack, age 28, at an apartment on the 500 block of South Abbe Road. Warmack is wanted on homicide charges stemming from an incident which occurred in May of last year in Detroit, Michigan.
  • April 29, 2009 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is pleased to announce the addition of three new agencies to its membership. U.S. Marshal Peter Elliott would like to take this opportunity to welcome the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office, the Westlake Police Department, and the Rocky River Police Department to their fugitive hunting family.
  • April 15, 2009 - The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force with the assistance of the Cleveland Division of Police arrested wanted fugitive Matthew Carson. Carson was wanted in the State of New York by the City of Rochester Police Department on charges of 2nd degree murder. The Task Force was notified by Deputy U.S. Marshals in the Rochester area that they developed information which led them to believe that Carson had fled to Ohio and was hiding in the Cleveland area.
  • April 2, 2009 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended fugitive Marvell Jones (age 20) this morning at approximately 7:30 a.m. in Elyria, Ohio, after a short foot pursuit.  An alert Task Force Officer observed Jones walking toward South Park Apartments on Middle Avenue in Elyria.  When approached by the Task Force, Jones attempted to flee on foot and threw a loaded firearm to the ground.
  • April 1, 2009 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force with the cooperation of the Cleveland Division of Police conducted a sweep of the city for offenders with outstanding warrants for domestic violence.  During the course of the sweep, members of the Task Force followed up on a lead that was sent by Deputy Marshals from the Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team (DFAT) in the Detroit, Michigan office for a fugitive wanted for criminal sexual assault.
  • March 25, 2009  – U.S. Marshal Peter J. Elliott announces the recipient of the 2008 Wayne Leon Task Force Officer of the Year Award for the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.  This year’s award will be presented to Deputy Sheriff Mark McElroy of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.  Deputy McElroy was selected as the winner of this prestigious award based upon his investigative efforts with the Akron Division of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.
  • March 19, 2009 - The U.S. Marshals announce the arrest of Robert Tomczewski, a fugitive wanted out of the State of Maryland. Tomczewski was wanted in Maryland on outstanding charges of Parole Violation stemming from an original charge of homicide which occurred in 2000. Tomczewski was convicted of shooting an elderly male with a .22 caliber pistol during a burglary. Tomczewski was paroled in 2006 and was allowed to reside in the State of Ohio during his parole. Tomczewski violated his parole in December 2008 and fled Ohio and returned to Maryland to avoid arrest.
  • March 5, 2009 - U.S. Marshal Peter J. Elliott announces the recipient of the 2008 Susan Graves Task Force Division of the Year Award for the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. This year’s award will be presented to the Youngstown Division of the Task Force. During 2008, the Youngstown Division of the Task Force arrested 1150 fugitives, including 14 arrests for homicide. The unit also seized 51 firearms, 425 rounds of ammunition, over $12,000 currency and approximately 1 kilogram of various illegal narcotics.
  • February 25, 2009 - Robert Moore III was apprehended by members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force after being mistakenly released from the Cuyahoga County Justice Center a few days ago. Robert Moore was one of eight men indicted last Wednesday on charges of drug trafficking.
  • February 13, 2009 - U.S. Marshal Peter J. Elliott announces the arrest of Michael B. Dilla, apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in Medina, Ohio. Dilla was wanted out of Florida for Assault – Felony Domestic Battery, Assault – Battery/Coerce by Retaliation and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. The U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force developed information that Dilla had fled to Ohio and requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force with locating and apprehending Dilla.
  • February 02, 2009 - U.S. Marshal Peter J. Elliott announces the arrest of Ryan C. Thompson, apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in Akron. Thompson was wanted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office out of Marion County, Ohio, where he is facing charges of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and Parole Violation.
  • January 23, 2009 - U.S. Marshal Peter J. Elliott announces the arrest of Michael Rodriguez. Rodriguez was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force on January 21, 2009 in Toledo, Ohio. Rodriguez, 36, was wanted in Michigan for violating his Parole and for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. His original conviction in 2005 was for Rape.
  • January 23, 2009 - U.S. Marshal Peter J. Elliott announces the capture of violent fugitive William Paige. Paige was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from the Lima Police Department. Paige was wanted on numerous felony charges including Armed Kidnapping of a Child, Attempted Armed Kidnapping of a Child, Stalking/ Assault, and Assault with a Firearm/Felon in Possession of a Firearm/Attempted Armed Kidnapping of a Child.
  • December 04, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, along with officers from the Cleveland Police Department, apprehended fugitive Brazzie Bryant at a residence in Cleveland, OH. Bryant (age 33) was wanted by the Wheeling Police Department in West Virginia for charges of sexual assault of a minor.
  • October 17, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested fugitive David M. Burkhammer (age 27), at a residence in Akron, Ohio on October 16, 2008. Burkhammer was wanted out of West Virginia on numerous charges stemming from a high speed vehicle chase that occurred in September 2008. Burkhammer was also wanted by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office for escape, which occurred on March 21, 2008, when he fled a detention facility in Summit County where he was serving a sentence for felonious assault.
  • October 16, 2008 - Peter J. Elliot, U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio, announces that on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force assisted the Youngstown Police Department Street Crimes Unit in the apprehension of Kaqun Slocum (age 18), wanted by the Akron Police Department for aggravated murder.
  • October 09, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, along with officers from the Cleveland Police Department, apprehended fugitive David Tate in Cleveland. Tate (age 23) was the third male in a trio that are suspects in a series of robberies ranging from Euclid to Cleveland. Earlier this month, Arsenio Winston and Marshal Butts were taken into custody by members of the Task Force, the Cleveland Police Department, and the Euclid Police Department.
  • October 09, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, arrested fugitive Andy Ellenwood on October 8, 2008, in Toledo, Ohio. Ellenwood (age 57) was wanted by the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office in Cordele, Ga. for violation of probation stemming from a conviction for Aggravated Sodomy of a Minor. Ellenwood was also wanted by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office in Macon, Ga. for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
  • September 30, 2008 - Peter J. Elliot, U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio, announces that the U.S. Marshals in Charlottesville, VA, apprehended Rudolph Matland III (age 27) at a residence in Stuarts Draft, VA, based on an urgent request from the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. The Youngstown Police Department wanted Matland for an incident that occurred on September 30th, where he allegedly forced his way into his estranged wife’s residence and assaulted her.
  • September 23, 2008 - Fugitive of the Week Reginald Garrett was apprehended this afternoon at approximately 12:30 PM. Thanks to an anonymous tipster, information was received on the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Taskforce hotline regarding the whereabouts of Garrett. Garrett was wanted by the North Royalton Police on larceny charges and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office for receiving stolen property, and by Cleveland Police for felonious assault.
  • September 12, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force would like to announce the arrest of Dwayne Cox.  Investigators located Cox at the apartment of a friend in Niles, Ohio.  He was arrested with the assistance of the Niles Police Department and the Trumbull/Ashtabula Law Enforcement Group.  Cox was wanted on a total of 17 warrants in 10 separate jurisdictions charging him with Passing Bad Checks.
  • September 11, 2008 - The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force would like to announce the capture of Alton S. Bazemore on September 9, 2008 in Detroit, Michigan. Bazemore had been sought by the task force since late summer 2007 for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender in Lucas County, Ohio. On September 10, 2008 the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, once again with the assistance of the Detroit, Michigan United States Marshals office, apprehended Jose Hernandez. Hernandez was also wanted for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender since July 2007.
  • August 18, 2008 - The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force started the week off on a positive note with the apprehension of last week’s Fugitive Of The Week, Eric Williams. Williams has been on the run and eluding the authorities for the past few weeks. Williams was wanted by the Lake County Sheriff’s office on 3 counts of rape, gross sexual imposition, and kidnapping.
  • August 15, 2008 - On August 14, 2008, The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force located Eliezer Caraballo in Orange County Jail in Orlando, FL after an anonymous tipster advised that he was in jail under an alias. Caraballo was the subject of a 4-state man hunt which began January 2008 when he fled Lorain, Ohio via Greyhound en route to the south. Caraballo was featured on America’s Most Wanted internet page where tips led investigators to Orlando, FL.
  • July 30, 2008 - Peter J. Elliott, United States Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio, announces the arrest of fugitive Brandon Weaver. The details of the investigation and arrest are below. On July 28th, 2008 the Liberty County (Georgia) Sheriff’s Office filed warrants for Weaver charging him with two counts of Aggravated Sodomy (Rape) involving 14 year old and 17 year old victims.
  • July 28, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended Willie Davis n Cleveland, OH. Davis was wanted by the Cleveland Police Department for multiple charges of Rape of a minor. Davis has as extensive criminal history which includes offenses for breaking and entering, aggravated burglary and domestic violence. A short while later, a call was received by members of the Task Force from Dwayne Gedson. Gedson, another recent Fugitive of the Week candidate was calling to arrange a meeting place to turn himself in.
  • July 14, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Aaron Sherrod in the Atlanta suburb of Rex, GA, where he was hiding from Ohio law enforcement. Sherrod was wanted by the Youngstown Police Department for his involvement in the November 18, 2007, shooting death of James Dow on Youngstown’s north side.
  • July 14, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended Terry Davy on Mt. Auburn Avenue in Cleveland, OH. Davy was wanted for escape from the Harbor Light half-way house by the State of Ohio and also for violation of his federal supervised release. Davy was serving time for convictions of felonious assault, weapons charges and drug charges.
  • July 10, 2008 - Peter J. Elliott, United States Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio, and Police Chief Michael T. Matulavich, Akron Police Department, announce the arrest of America’s Most Wanted (AMW) Fugitive Thomas Lollis. Lollis was arrested by the United States Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force (GCVOFTF), with assistance from the Houston Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff’s Department in Houston, TX. Lollis is charged with the shooting death of a 29 year old black male that occurred in Akron, OH on the 5th of July, 2007.
  • May 14, 2008 - On May 7, 2008 an arrest warrant was issued for Hakim Crymes by the East Cleveland Police Department charging him with the murder of Larry Powell.  On May 10, 2008 Deputy Marshals assigned to the NOVFT taskforce reached out to the U.S. Marshals in Las Vegas, and notified them of the specifics surrounding the case and information relating to the description of the two individuals as well as the vehicle they were believed to be driving. Last Night, the NOVFT taskforce was notified that the vehicle Crymes and his girlfriend were believed to be traveling in was located at a motel in the Las Vegas area. Approximately 1 hour later another call was received stating that Crymes was in custody and apprehended without incident.
  • October 01, 2007 - On Saturday, September 29, 2007 a powerful new initiative took place at the Boy’s and Girls Club of Cleveland, Mount Pleasant Facility.  Operation 2nd Chance was a pilot program based upon the idea of United States Marshal Peter J. Elliott. Marshal Elliott worked with a collaboration of community partners to identify youths in Cleveland’s Ward 4 who were having behavior problems that may be a result of learning disorders. The program identified specific families in Ward 4 who had outstanding truancy and curfew warrants.
  • July 14, 2007 - The House of the Lord Church in Akron, OH opened its doors for four days to 1,120 fugitives: one of the largest surrender totals recorded in the program’s three year history. Fugitive Safe Surrender encourages persons wanted for felony or misdemeanor crimes to voluntarily surrender to the law in a faith-based location. The House of the Lord church opened its doors at 9:00 AM Wednesday, July 11 and had fugitives eagerly waiting outside the doors for their first step at a second chance. On the last day, over 600 individuals surrendered.
  • April 09, 2007 - Two local United States Marshals Service employees will receive national recognition during the U.S. Marshals Service Director’s Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on April 11, 2007. Assistant Chief Cathy Jones will be awarded the “Leadership Beyond the Standard Award” and Chief David Harlow will be awarded the “Distinguished Group Award”. The awards are two of the highest awards to be received within the United States Marshals Service.
  • March 28, 2007 - Peter J. Elliott, the United States Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio, has been named a “Top Cop” of the nation by the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO). Marshal Elliott was selected for this prestigious award after being nominated by the Ohio Patrolman’s Benevolent Association and its President Terry Gallagher. The Top Cop Awards pay tribute to the men and women in law enforcement for their outstanding service to America’s communities.
  • October 31, 2006 - Fugitive Thomas Gilbert Longo was apprehended by Mexican Immigration Authorities and Deputy U.S. Marshals in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on October 30, 2006, after 11 months on the run. Longo, who was profiled on America’s Most Wanted on July 18, 2006, obtained fugitive status almost one year ago when he failed to appear for a hearing.
  • October 17, 2006 - David Wesley of the Cleveland Cavaliers speaks to students of the Gang Resistance Education and Training Program (G.R.E.A.T.) spearheaded by the U.S. Marshals Service in Cleveland, OH. Deputy U.S. Marshals and partnering G.R.E.A.T. police officers from Chagrin Falls, Cleveland, East Cleveland, Parma, and Warrensville Heights teamed up with CAVS players and coaches to reinforce the anti-gang message to “Say no to violence."
  • October 15, 2006 - On the evening of October 12, 2006, Richard Wesley Gibbs’ run from justice ended as U.S. Marshals, working through Panamanian authorities, apprehended Gibbs at the Big Bamboo Bar and Grill in Bocas Del Toro, Panama, after a 90-day manhunt that spanned seven states.
