Welcome to the United States Marshals
Service District of Puerto Rico. The United States Marshals Service (USMS)
is the nation’s oldest and most versatile federal law enforcement
agency. Federal Marshals have served the country since 1789. To this
day, the Marshals occupy a uniquely central position in the federal
justice system. They are the enforcement arm of the federal courts, and
as such are involved in virtually every federal law enforcement
initiative. Among their many duties, they apprehend more than half of
all federal fugitives, protect the federal judiciary, operate the
Witness Security Program, transport federal prisoners and seize property
acquired by criminals through illegal activities. The District of Puerto Rico was established as part of the First Circuit by Act of April 12, 1900, effective May 1, 1900. I am honored to be the eleventh United States Marshal to be appointed to this district. I look forward to executing my duties and responsibilities during my tenure.
