  • October 17, 2009 - Bernard Baker AKA: Scrappy, was apprehended at a home on Schoolhouse Road in Columbia, SC. Baker is a fugitive from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is a suspect in a Homicide/Murder that took place on August 16, 2008. The U.S. Marshals Task Force, Operation Intercept received a request for investigative assistance on August 1, 2009 based on information gathered leading investigators to believe Baker had fled to South Carolina.

  • April 10, 2009 – Michael Angelo Young was arrested without incident at a relative’s home on Wednesday, April 8. Young, 29, was the subject of Wyandotte County, KS warrants for First Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery. The warrants stem from a shooting incident that occurred in October 2008. =

  • April 9, 2009 - Edward Porta, a former resident of the Spartanburg area, was the President of Porta Textiles and Porta Technologies, companies with extensive business contacts within the North American textile industry. On December 20, 2005, Porta pled guilty in the U.S. District Court in Asheville, North Carolina to the charge of Conspiracy to Defraud the U.S. Department of Agriculture. On May 2, 2007, Porta was sentenced to 38 months imprisonment for his role in the elaborate cotton import/export scheme that defrauded the U.S. Department of Agriculture, as well as banks and businesses in the U.S. and Mexico, to the tune of over 2.5 million dollars. On February 25, 2008, Porta was discovered missing following a scheduled prisoner count at the United States Penitentiary Lee County (VA) Satellite Camp. He has been on the run since that date and has been charged with Escape.

  • April 6, 2009 - Edward Woods was arrested without incident on Saturday, April 4. Woods, also known as Edward Aiken, was the subject of a 1991 Williamson County (TX) warrant charging him with Failure to Appear on an original charge of Indecency with a Child. He had been on the run for 18 years. Woods, 42, was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting extradition proceedings. The Marshals fugitive task force, Operation Intercept, received information from Texas last week that Woods was possibly living off of Biddle Road in Lexington. Lexington County Investigators and Deputy Marshals in Columbia began surveillance shortly after receiving the information and were able to apprehend Woods.

  • April 4, 2009 - Thomas Outing was arrested without incident in Philadelphia, PA just after 11:00 this morning. Outing was the subject of a Lexington County warrant for murder. He was booked into a local jail awaiting extradition proceedings. Lexington County Investigators and Deputy Marshals in Columbia tracked Outing to Philadelphia early last week and provided that information to Deputy Marshals in Philadelphia.

  • September 05, 2008 - Johnnie Elvin McKelvey was taken into custody without incident yesterday in Jacksonville, FL. McKelvey, 45, is alleged to have failed to appear to begin service of a federal prison sentence in January 2004. McKelvey was convicted on a federal charge of Felon in Possession of a Firearm in late 2003 and ordered to serve 180 months. He had been on the run for over four years. McKelvey’s long time girlfriend, Paula Glenn, was also arrested yesterday in Monck’s Corner. Glenn, 43, was charged in federal court with Concealing a Person from Arrest.

  • September 04, 2008 - Harendra Kumar Patel was arrested on Wednesday September 3, 2008 by the U.S. Marshals. Deputy Marshals advise Patel has been a fugitive from the Crown Court of Leicester, England after allegedly being charged with Fraudulent Evasion of the Duty Payable on Goods over One Million Dollars. South Carolina Marshals arrested Patel at the Blue Bay Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC.

  • August 22, 2008 - Barbara Glenn also known as Barbara Corley of Piedmont, SC was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Task Force, Operation Intercept. Task Force Officers advise Corley has been a fugitive for thirty-five (35) years after allegedly escaping from the Detroit House of Corrections in Plymouth, Michigan. South Carolina Marshals arrested Corley at a residence on Reserve Drive in Piedmont, SC.

  • March 05, 2008 - John Walter Wynn was arrested without incident Monday night in Conway. Wynn, 41, was the subject of a February 2006 Prince George County (Maryland) warrant for murder. Wynn is alleged to have shot his female victim multiple times before fleeing Maryland and eventually landing in Conway. He had been a fugitive for over two years.

  • February 26, 2008 - The United States Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of Joshua Seibles.  This reward is in addition to the reward already being offered by Crimestoppers. Seibles is the subject of a Kershaw County warrant for Escape. Investigators believe that Seibles could still be in Columbia in the area of West Beltline Boulevard and Two Notch Road. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Seibles should call the Marshals at 803-765-5821 or Crimestoppers at 888-559-TIPS (8477).

  • January 19, 2008 - Terry Lowry, 59, was taken into custody this morning in Allendale County. Lowry, a native of Norman Park (GA), is alleged to have escaped from the Federal Correctional Institution in Estill on Tuesday, January 15. Deputies believe that he had been living in the woods since he was discovered missing from Estill earlier this week. Lowry was serving a 54 month federal sentence on cocaine charges that originated in the Southern District of Georgia.
  • September 14, 2007 - In one of the largest fugitive initiatives ever undertaken in South Carolina, the U.S. Marshals Service teamed with law enforcement agencies throughout the state to arrest 540 fugitives and clear 939 warrants during a recent 16 day sweep. Led by the U.S. Marshals Service, Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) is an ongoing, multi-city, nationwide law enforcement effort. The operation targets persons wanted for sexual offenses, other violent crimes and narcotics violations.
  • September 07, 2007 - Dominic Lyde is scheduled to be profiled this weekend on the FOX television show America’s Most Wanted. Lyde, 22, is the subject of Richland County warrants for Armed Robbery, Kidnapping and Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature.
  • June 29, 2007 - The United States Marshals Service, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department have arrested three men that were wanted by Lexington County for Failure to Register as Sex Offenders.
  • June 05, 2007 - Travis Jamal Lawson was taken into custody in Atlanta today by members of the Marshals’ Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF). Lawson, 28, was the subject of December 2006 Richland County warrants for Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor and Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature.
  • June 04, 2007 - Juan Manuel Sanchez was apprehended today by deputy marshals in Memphis ,TN. He had been on the run for almost 14 years. Sanchez, 31, was the subject of (4) August 1993 Lexington County warrants accusing him of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor. Sanchez was booked into the Shelby County Jail awaiting extradition proceedings.
  • June 01, 2007 - Kelvin Holman was taken into custody just after 3:00 PM today in Aiken County. Holman, who was one of the Marshals' Top 10 South Carolina fugitives, was the subject of a Federal Bond Violation warrant alleging that he failed to appear for sentencing after being convicted of a Cocaine Conspiracy.
  • May 16, 2007 - Members of Operation Intercept located and apprehended Norton Lionel Byrd, Jr. today. Byrd was the subject of (2) Assault and Battery with Intent to Kill warrants from Chesterfield County. Byrd is alleged to have stabbed two patrons of Shirley’s Lounge in Society Hill on April 18th. He was booked into the Darlington County Detention Center awaiting court proceedings.
  • April 18, 2007 - Reggie Pinkney was apprehended on 04/17 in Chadbourne, NC by members of the Marshals’ Operation Intercept and deputy marshals from the Eastern District of North Carolina. Pinkney, 27, was the subject of an October 2005 Horry County warrant for Failure to Appear on a Trafficking Cocaine charge and a December 2005 warrant for a state Probation Violation.
  • March 21, 2007 - Martin Garcia-Gonzalez was apprehended late Monday night in Edinburg, Texas as he attempted to run out the back door of his mobile home. Garcia-Gonzalez was the subject of a 1994 federal warrant charging him with escape from FCI Estill. Garcia-Gonzalez’s trail had gone cold for almost 13 years before deputy marshals in South Carolina picked it up in Florida late last year.
  • January 26, 2007 - Jesse Merle Keffler was taken into custody without incident by members of the Marshals’ Operation Intercept fugitive task force today. Keffler, 35, was the first person in South Carolina to be arrested under the new Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006.
  • November 22, 2006 - John Wilcox was taken into custody today in Miami, FL. Wilcox, 41, was the subject of a 1991 South Carolina Probation warrant alleging that he absconded from supervision. He was originally charged in 1989 in Orangeburg County with Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine.
  • November 06, 2006 - Rafael Horlbeck was apprehended this morning by members of the Marshals’ Operation Intercept fugitive task force. Horlbeck, 19, was the subject of a North Charleston warrant for Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor and a Charleston warrant for a homicide that occurred on Hanover Street in October.
  • November 02, 2006 - Deputy United States Marshals teamed up with thousands of fellow federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to conduct the largest ever round up of fugitive sex-offenders and wanted gang members. Dubbed “Operation FALCON III” (Federal And Local Cops Organized Nationally), Deputy Marshals and their fellow task force members arrested 10,773 felony fugitives.
