| Alleged Child Rapist Arrested by Task Force |

Columbus, OH – United States Marshal
James M. Wahlrab announces the arrest of Marvin Myers. Myers was indicted in
the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas on a first degree felony charge of
rape of a child under the age of 13. Myers was also charged with a third
degree felony charge of gross sexual imposition. The City of Columbus
Division of Police investigated the rape allegation which occurred between
June 1, 2008 and July 1, 2008. The case was presented to the Grand Jury on
April 23, 2009, and an indictment was issued. Also on April 23, an arrest
warrant for Myers was issued and the case was assigned to the U.S. Marshals
led Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (S.O.F.A.S.T.) for
apprehension responsibility. S.O.F.A.S.T. officers arrested Myers at his home this morning in the 3100 block of E. 13th Ave., Columbus. Myers initially hid in his basement, but ultimately surrendered. “Due to the heinous nature of the allegation, the arrest of Marvin Myers was made our highest priority,” said United States Marshal James Wahlrab. “The U.S. Marshals Service and our task force partners are committed to locking up child predators and anyone who would victimize an innocent child.” S.O.F.A.S.T. is a multi-agency fugitive apprehension team that is comprised of the following law enforcement agencies in the Columbus area: U. S. Marshals Service, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Columbus Division of Police, Ohio Adult Parole Authority, Grove City Police Department, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, U.S. Department of Agriculture – OIG, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Columbus Division of Fire, Reynoldsburg Police Department, Whitehall Police Department, Grandview Heights Police Department, Lancaster Police Department, and the Worthington Police Department.
