U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Captures Detroit Homicide Suspect in Elyria
NOVFTF LogoElyria, OH – Early this morning, the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended Camari Warmack, age 28, at an apartment on the 500 block of South Abbe Road.

Warmack is wanted on homicide charges stemming from an incident which occurred in May of last year in Detroit, Michigan. The formal charges as stated on the warrant are listed as murder in the first degree, assault with intent to murder, felon in possession of a firearm, and an additional weapons charge. It is alleged that on May 17, 2008 Warmack and another associate, with specific intent to murder, conducted surveillance on another person they were targeting to kill. Warmack and his associate were allegedly targeting the driver of a vehicle as a retaliation murder for a past murder of Warmack’s friend. Warmack and his co-conspirator allegedly shot several rounds at the vehicle targeting the driver. The passenger of the vehicle, who was an unfortunate uninvolved victim, was ultimately killed during the incident. Warmack has also been named as a suspect in a second shooting that had taken place in March of this year.

Since May 2008, the U.S. Marshals Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team (DFAT) has been attempting to locate Warmack. During the course of this investigation, Deputies in Detroit recently acquired information that Warmack was staying with family members somewhere in the greater Cleveland area. Upon receiving this information, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force responded quickly and within days were able to determine a possible location for Warmack in Elyria. After conducting surveillance at the location in question, the Task Force made entry into an apartment and apprehended Warmack without incident. This national manhunt spanned from Michigan to Tennessee, Minnesota and then Ohio.
Assistant Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Drew Deserto stated, “This was a well coordinated effort between our Task Force and the Detroit Task Force. Investigators did a great job on this case. When our task force partners come together, it creates the ideal formula for hunting fugitives and brings justice to those that evade the law.”
