| U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force Arrest Fugitive Wanted by the Wilmington Police Department |
|
With information developed by the U.S. Marshals First State Fugitive Task
Force, a fugitive wanted by the Wilmington Police Department was arrested at
a residence in Brooklyn, N.Y. by members of the U.S. Marshals New York/New
Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. Allen J. Taylor, 36 years of age, had
been wanted for first degree murder, possession of a firearm during a
felony, and illegal possession of a firearm by a person prohibited. These
charges stemmed from a slaying that occurred on August 18, 2008 in Wilmington,
Delaware. After the Wilmington Police Department asked the U.S. Marshals First State Fugitive Task Force for assistance in locating and arresting Taylor, Task Force Officers learned that Taylor may have fled the Wilmington area and traveled to the New York City area. At approximately 2:30 p.m., on May 6, 2009, members of the U. S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested TAYLOR at an apartment complex in Brooklyn, NY. Taylor is being held in New York pending extradition proceedings back to Delaware. Every year, the U.S. Marshals and its associated Task Forces throughout the country arrest more fugitives than all federal law enforcement agencies combined. Last year, this number was more than 73,000 state and local fugitives and more than 36,000 federal fugitives.
