Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested in North Carolina
Fayetteville, NC - A man wanted by Bedford County authorities for the attempted murder of a Bedford City Police officer was arrested this afternoon in Fayetteville, NC. Brian Aubrey Burnette, 31, was charged by the Bedford City Police on April 17 with the attempted capital murder of a detective who was attempting to arrest him on outstanding felony warrants. Burnette allegedly stuck the officer with his vehicle while fleeing.

On April 29, WSLS-TV 10 featured Burnette on their Most Wanted segment and several tips were received by the U.S. Marshals in Roanoke. Based on these leads, the Marshals’ Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) in Roanoke requested assistance from their counterparts in Eastern North Carolina, the Violent Fugitive Task Force (VFTF). At approximately noon today, Burnette was arrested without incident at the Boulevard Motel, 4309 Bragg Boulevard in Fayetteville. Burnette was incarcerated in the Cumberland County Jail as a fugitive from justice from Virginia and currently awaits extradition back to Bedford County.
