Cincinnati, OH - On 05/13/09 at
approximately 9:30 am, the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST)
arrested 32 year-old Courtney Givan (Male, Black, DOB 12/06/76) at a
relative’s residence located on Glenway Avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio. Givan is
accused of shooting Jervarion Wright at an apartment complex in Montgomery,
Alabama on May 09, 2009. Givan has a lengthy criminal record that includes
felony assaults and robberies. Assistant Chief Deputy United States Marshal
Patrick Sedoti stated, “This is another example of law enforcement working
collaboratively across many jurisdictions for the benefit of all communities
involved.” SOFAST received a request from the U.S. Marshals in the Southern District of Alabama to help locate and arrest Givan. On 05/13/09, SOFAST developed information that Givan was staying with a relative on Glenway Avenue. The strike team found Givan lying on the floor of his relative’s house, where he was arrested without incident. Givan was booked into the Hamilton County Detention Center where he will await extradition back to Alabama. SOFAST is a multi-jurisdictional task force comprised of the U.S. Marshals, Cincinnati Police Department, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Warren Co. Prosecutors Office, U.S. Department of Agriculture OIG, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Butler County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio Adult Parole Authority. U.S. Marshals are the nation’s primary fugitive hunting organization and capture more federal fugitives each year than all other law enforcement agencies combined.
