| New York Murder Suspect Arrested in Roanoke |
|
Roanoke, VA - A man wanted by NYPD for
homicide was arrested Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional
Fugitive Task Force based in Roanoke and the Roanoke Police Department.
Hector Barrington-Stephenson, 29, from Bronx, New York, was arrested without
incident at approximately 3:30 pm at 3402 Bennett Drive, Apt. 6 in Roanoke.
Barrington-Stephenson was wanted by NYPD on outstanding warrants for
homicide, criminal possession of a firearm, drug distribution and felony
assault from another alleged shooting incident in New York. Task force officers with the Marshals’ New York-New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force developed information that Barrington-Stephenson may be in the Roanoke Valley area and contacted the U.S. Marshals office in Roanoke to conduct a further investigation. On Wednesday, task force investigators developed additional information through extensive investigative efforts that led them to Barrington-Stephenson residing in Roanoke under an assumed name. Barrington-Stephenson has a long history of violent offenses and was considered armed and extremely dangerous. He is incarcerated in the Roanoke City Jail as a Fugitive from Justice and awaits extradition proceedings for his eventual return to New York to stand trial.
