Navarre, FL - The U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force
apprehended an Alabama man who is wanted for two murders and an attempted
murder that took place over a decade ago in Alabama. A warrant that was
issued earlier this month in Coosa County, Al states that Charles Richard Tooley had badly beaten several people and then left them in a building that
he set on fire. The warrant was recently granted after new information had
been developed by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation that originated from a
cold case which occurred in 1995. Yesterday, the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast
Regional Fugitive Task Force in Montgomery contacted the Florida Regional
Fugitive Task Force and requested their help. Information was provided by
the Marshals Alabama task force that Tooley may be living in the Pensacola
area. It was discovered that Tooley had been living in Navarre for the last
couple of years. Early this morning the Pensacola task force Marshals and
task force members from Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office began
surveillance at an address on the 8000 Block of Branch Avenue in Navarre,
where they later arrested him without incident while he was working on a
truck. He was booked in at the Santa Rosa County where he will wait until
his extradition back to Alabama. Additional information about the U.S. Marshals can be found at http://www.usmarshals.gov. ### |
