U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrests Ohio Escapee in Louisiana

Akron, OH - Earlier today, the Tulane University Police Department apprehended multi-state fugitive, Sarah Kelly, age 22, in New Orleans, La., based on a lead from the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force – Akron Division. Kelly fled Ohio earlier this month and several leads led investigators to focus on New Orleans, where she was arrested.

At approximately, 9:00 a.m., Tulane University Police approached Kelly in a University Building in New Orleans. The officers closed down quickly on Kelly cutting off all of her avenues of escape and was well prepared for any aliases that Kelly was known to use to evade law enforcement. Kelly surrendered to officers without a problem and she was arrested without incident. The search incident to arrest yielded numerous fake ID’s from multiple states in her possession.

Kelly was wanted by the Akron Police Department, Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office and the Wythe County Sheriff’s Department in Virginia for charges ranging from theft, forgery and escape. Kelly is currently awaiting extradition from Louisiana and will be brought back to Ohio to face her charges.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “The Task Force did a great job tracking down this escapee and ensuring she will face justice in Ohio. When we work together we can truly accomplish great things.”
