Mobile, AL – Richard Ray, a suspect
wanted in connection of string of armed robberies this week in Pensacola, FL
was arrested last night by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force
in Mobile, AL. Several warrants issued by the Escambia County Sheriff's
Office charge RAY with Robbery with a Firearm and Aggravated Assault. The
warrants allege that Ray entered several restaurants and at least one bank
on a stretch of Nine Mile Road in Pensacola and simulated having a gun while
demanding money. The Task Force caught up with Ray, 37, around 11 p.m. and
arrested him without incident at the Marriott Hotel located at 3101 Airport
Boulevard. The investigation started in Pensacola with Escambia County
Sheriff’s Office Patrol who sought the assistance of the Florida Regional
Fugitive Task Force. By late Thursday night the FRFTF contacted the U.S.
Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Mobile, AL requesting
their assistance. Task force investigators from Escambia and Santa Rosa
County and FDLE developed a lead that Ray was in Mobile. Involved in the
arrest were task force officers from Mobile Police Department and the Mobile
Police Department’s Intelligence Unit. Although a small amount of money was
found with Ray, it was not clear whether or not it was linked to the
robberies. Additional information about the U.S. Marshals Service can be found at http://www.usmarshals.gov. |
