U.S. Marshals Task Force Nab Final Suspect in Federal Drug Conspiracy
Milton, FL – The U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force in Pensacola arrested a Milton man who has been eluding law enforcement and the Marshals since February. Task Force Officers who were conducting surveillance observed John Irwin Lewis, 38, as a passenger in a car driven by a woman driving down Stewart Street in Milton yesterday afternoon. U.S. Marshals, Task Force Officers from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division, Narcotics Investigators and Patrol Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at the intersection of Munson Highway and Alabama Street. Victoria Hamrick, Lewis’s daughter, drove through a red light at the intersection while attempting to elude law enforcement and was blocked in by police. Lewis was arrested without incident. Hamrick was arrested and charged with Obstruction of Justice.

In July of 2009 a warrant was issued for Lewis' arrest in Santa Rosa County for methamphetamine related charges. Lewis was indicted by a federal grand jury in February of 2010 for Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine in Excess of 500 Grams.  Multiple other persons were indicted by this grand jury on similar charges. Lewis is the last in this group to be apprehended. Santa Rosa County Investigators who are assigned to the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force and members of the United States Marshals Service have been tracking Lewis since the federal indictment.

During the past week information was developed that Lewis had returned to the Santa Rosa County after being out of the area for a while.  Anthony Corn and Gina Corn of Robie Road in Milton, FL were also arrested and charged with Obstruction of Justice in regards to harboring John Lewis. Lewis had his first appearance in federal court this afternoon, waived detention and remanded to the Santa Rosa County Jail.
