Robinsonville, MS – The U.S. Marshals
from Oxford, MS apprehended a Santa Rosa County man yesterday morning who
had possibly fled the Pensacola area 8 years ago. John David Josey who has
an outstanding warrant from the Sheriff’s Office in Santa Rosa for violation
of probation for Possession of Marijuana, also has a violation of probation
felony warrant from Escambia County, FL for Possession of Cocaine. Josey,
31, has actually been wanted since 2002.
A Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force Officer from Santa Rosa
Sheriff’s Office developed information over the Memorial Day weekend that
Josey was living in Southaven, MS with a high school friend. The US Marshals
Task Force from Oxford was requested to help apprehend Josey on Tuesday.
After a brief investigation they located Josey at work at Fitzgerald’s
Casino in Robinsonville, MS and arrested him without incident. Josey was
working there under an alias using a Florida Driver’s License, a Social
Security Card as well as registering a car under that alias in MS. The
documents appeared to be genuine and the identity is that of a man from
another state. It is unknown if the man is a victim or co-conspirator to
that crime. Since his arrest it has been discovered that Josey has had
run-ins with authorities in other states under the alias but was able to go
undetected as to his real identity. Josey will most likely face additional
charges for possession of these documents and using this subject’s identity
pending the outcome of the investigation.
In February of 2005 the Marshals Task Force in Pensacola, adopted the Josey
case during their Operation SAM (Special Apprehension Mission) fugitive
round-up and teamed-up with officers from Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s to
arrest him but were unsuccessful in locating him.
Josey was booked into the Desoto County Jail in MS and will be held there
