Pensacola, FL – The U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force (FRFTF) arrested a man late this afternoon wanted by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office for a murder that took place over two years ago in Pensacola. Daniel Levi Ward, 22, is suspected of shooting and killing Linda Tate inside of her home on Blue Angel Parkway in October of 2008. Ward was taken into custody today at 2:45 p.m. in the parking lot of a strip mall located at Chemstrand and Nine Mile Road in Pensacola. Task Force Officers from Escambia and Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Offices, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and U.S. Marshals had been working this case non-stop since they were recruited to help on Tuesday. It was around 2 o’clock today when an Escambia County Investigator assigned to the Task Force had made contact with Ward convincing him to meet with him to just to talk.

“As far as we know he had no idea about the murder warrant,” said Inspector Dominic Guadagnoli, spokesman for the Task Force. “We really turned up the heat and I think his curiosity got the best of him.”
When Ward showed up he was arrested without incident and booked into the Escambia County Jail without a bond. Ward was already out of jail on a $25,000 bond for selling drugs.

The  FRFTF and Task Force Officers from Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrested fugitives in Okaloosa County recently as well.

• Matthew Knight – Order Revoking Bond for Aggravated Assault, wanted in Okaloosa County, arrested on 12/2/10 at 418 Westminster Road, Ft. Walton Beach, FL.
• Nathaniel Wilder – Capital Murder, wanted in Oxford, MS arrested on 11/24/10 at 510 Union St. lot 9A in Ft. Walton Beach.
• Kenneth Lauterbach – Assault, wanted in Brooklyn, NY arrested on 11/19/10 at to 4020 Dancing Cloud Court Apt. 361 in Destin, FL.
