Mansfield,
OH – On the morning of January 25, 2011, members of the U.S. Marshals
Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force - Toledo Division arrested Jon
Jefferson, age 34, at a family member’s home in Toledo, Ohio. Jefferson was
wanted by the Richland County Sheriff’s Office on indictment for trafficking
in drugs, by the Ohio State Highway Patrol for flight to avoid prosecution,
and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for dangerous drugs. The U.S.
Marshals Task Force has been working the case since October and in November
Jefferson was added to the Task Force’s Most Wanted “Dangerous Dozen.” No
solid leads were developed until the Task Force released the January 2011
“Dangerous Dozen” update last week and Jefferson’s picture was profiled in
the media again.
This exposure resulted in the Task Force
receiving a tip which led them to a residence on the
300 block of Winthrop Road in Toledo. The Richland County Division of the
Task Force relayed the information to the Toledo Division of the Task Force
who immediately responded and located and arrested Jefferson at the
residence. Task Force Officers found Jefferson hiding in the attic at the
time of the arrest. Jefferson was transported to the Lucas County Jail to
await extradition to Richland County
Jon Jefferson was one of the last 3 remaining
fugitives from the 73 defendant, October METRICH roundup. Of the now
remaining 2 fugitives, the U.S. Marshals Task Force believes that fugitives
Ronnie Carter and Cleveland Snelling are still in the Mansfield/Columbus
area.
Mansfield Police Chief Dino Sgambellone
stated, “This is a great example of what we can accomplish when we merge
resources and work together towards a common goal. With the task force
tracking down these fugitives, it is just a matter of time before they are
brought to justice.”
