Arrest of Alleged Aggravated Assault Suspect

PSWRFTF LogoOroville, CA – The U.S. Marshals led Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force (PSWRFTF) arrested 34 year old Roy Allen Ostergren. Ostergren was wanted out of Texas for Aggravated Assault on a family member.

In the early morning hours of December 12th 2011 in Ector County Texas, Ostergren is alleged to have assaulted his common law wife. During the assault Ostergren used a baseball bat to beat his wife and then wrapped a chain around her neck and drug her behind his truck causing serious injury. The victim was then later taken to the hospital for treatment for her injuries. Ostergren then snuck into the hospital where the victim was recovering, closed the door to the room and assaulted her again. Ostergren fled without being apprehended and on December 20th 2011 an arrest warrant was issued by the Ector County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) in the Western District of Texas were asked to assist in locating Ostergren. Investigators developed leads that Ostergren had fled to the Eastern District of California to avoid capture. The PSWRFTF Sacramento Division was contacted to attempt to track down Ostergren who was believed to be in the Oroville area.

Deputy U.S. Marshals and Task Force Officers were given a tip that Ostergren was possibly staying at a motel off of highway 70 in Oroville. At approximately 9:30 a.m. while conducting surveillance an individual matching Ostergrens description was seen in the passenger seat of a vehicle that passed by. Deputies and Task Force Officer’s followed the vehicle to a Valero gas station near Montgomery Street and Feather River Boulevard where Deputies confirmed the individual to be Ostergren and arrested him without incident while fueling up the vehicle. The driver was detained and released after being identified he had no ties to the alleged crime.

Ostergren was booked into the Butte County Jail awaiting extradition back to Ector County Texas to face his charges.
