Suspect in Indiana County Bank Robbery Captured

WPAFTF LogoPittsburgh, PA - Thomas Leon Davis, 50, who was wanted by the Pennsylvania State Police in connection with a bank robbery earlier this year in Indiana County, was taken into custody yesterday by members of the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force and State Police.

Davis is charged in a criminal complaint with robbing the First Commonwealth Bank, Main Street, Cherry Tree Boro, on July 2. In that robbery, a lone individual entered the bank, displayed a handgun and demanded money.

According to State Police, the suspect fled the bank on foot with an undetermined amount of money.
The State Police had been searching for Davis since August after naming him as a suspect in the robbery. Believing Davis fled the area, the State Police’s fugitive unit worked with the U.S. Marshals to assist in locating Davis. Yesterday, Task Force agents received information indicating Davis returned to the family home in Cherry Tree and were able to take him into custody in the 500 block of Clarion Road without incident.

Davis was taken to the Indiana State Police Barracks today after his arrest.

Davis is charged with Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and Receiving Stolen Property.

A K9 unit from the Cambria County Sheriff’s Office and member of the U.S. Marshals Task Force assisted in the arrest late yesterday.
