ACRONYM: IC/TIS ORIGINATOR:
ABSTRACT: The IC/TIS system contains identifying information and background data on persons who have directly threatened or pose a violent threat to USMS protectees, information concerning the threat, and threat-related investigative information. PURPOSE: This system is used to plan and carry out security operations for the protection of Federal judges, court officials, witnesses and jurors. ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: Records are protected from unauthorized access through appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. These safeguards include restricting access to those with a need-to-know to perform their official duties, using locks and alarm devices, passwords and/or encrypting data communications. USE CONSTRAINTS: Users are restricted to only those privileges necessary to perform assigned tasks. AGENCY PROGRAM: The IC/TIS system supports the USMS in the administration and implementation of courtroom security requirements for the Federal judiciary, and in the protection of Federal jurists, court officers, and other threatened persons in the interests of justice where criminal intimidation impedes the functioning of the Federal judicial process. SOURCES OF DATA: Information contained in this system is obtained from public and confidential sources and from Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies.
