ABSTRACT: MAPS contains personal and employment-related data on every USMS employee.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this system is to maintain personnel data on all staff for the purposes of payroll tracking, promotion tracking, skills tracking, benefits tracking and all other Human Resource data tracking requirements. By using MAPS there is a central repository of information with which to manage the data and run statistical reports for management and oversight organizations.

ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: All records in MAPS are protected from unauthorized access through appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. These safeguards include restricting access to those with a need to know to perform their official duties, using locks and alarm devices, passwords and/or encrypting data communications.

USE CONSTRAINTS: Users of MAPS are restricted to only those privileges necessary to perform assigned tasks.

AGENCY PROGRAM: MAPS is a tool used to track USMS personnel data and is essential to maintaining good personnel records.

SOURCES OF DATA: Records maintained in MAPS are obtained from the individual employee, OPM, Human Resources Division, and the National Finance Center (NFC) payroll system data.
