July 16, 2008 - Deputy United States Marshals from the Western District of North Carolina and the United States Marshals sponsored Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force combined their efforts to capture Cleveland County escapee Chavis Leon Hargro. Hargro, 28, was indicted on June 4, 2008 in the Western District of North Carolina for his alleged involvement in a cocaine conspiracy.

July 16, 2008 - Washington, D.C. - The U.S. Marshals Service, assisted by federal, state and local law enforcement, arrested 19,380 fugitives and cleared 25,087 warrants as part of Operation FALCON 2008 (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally), Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey, and U.S. Marshals Service Director John F. Clark announced today. Ranging from coast to coast, Operation FALCON 2008 brought together the talents and resources of 30 federal agencies, 162 state agencies and 1,425 local sheriffs’ and police departments, to again make the program a huge success.

July 15, 2008 - James M. Wahlrab, U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Ohio (S/OH), announced the capture of fugitive Josh Dale Pointer (age 19) by the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST). Pointer escaped from the Hart County Jail in Hartwell, Georgia on July 13, 2008 while facing prosecution for numerous burglaries. Pointer was temporarily being held at the Hart County Jail while serving a 20 year sentence at the Washington State Prison in Davisboro, Georgia for multiple burglary and motor vehicle theft charges from three different counties in Georgia.

July 15, 2008 - 15 Most Wanted Capture - A suspect wanted in one of the most merciless, senseless murders in this city’s history has been captured in his native Mexico. U.S. Marshals today announced the arrest of “Top 15 Most Wanted Fugitive” Miguel Mateos-Martinez near Ensenada, Mexico last Sunday evening.

July 15, 2008 - On July 14, 2008, fugitive Lloyd Munson was apprehended by the Harris County Sheriffs Office, the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force (GCVOTF) and the Houston Police Department, at an apartment complex in Houston, Texas. Munson fled the New Orleans Metro area after his alleged involvement in the aggravated kidnapping and murder of Terrence Pinkley. Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s investigators allege that on March 01, 2008, Munson kidnapped Terrence Pinkley and attempted to negotiate with an associate of Pinkley, for the exchange of drugs and money to secure his freedom. When Pinkley’s associate contacted the authorities and informed them of the plot, Munson allegedly shot and killed Pinkley.

July 15, 2008 - U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Task Force (RFTF) members arrested Jose Ramirez in Hollywood, Florida. On March 4, 2004, a warrant was issued for Jose Luis Ramirez by Shelby County after Ramirez was charged with First Degree Murder in the shooting death of Hector Leon. The Mid-South Fugitive Task Force (MSFTF) began in August 2005 and adopted this case shortly thereafter.

July 14, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended Terry Davy on Mt. Auburn Avenue in Cleveland, OH. Davy was wanted for escape from the Harbor Light half-way house by the State of Ohio and also for violation of his federal supervised release. Davy was serving time for convictions of felonious assault, weapons charges and drug charges.

July 14, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Aaron Sherrod in the Atlanta suburb of Rex, GA, where he was hiding from Ohio law enforcement. Sherrod was wanted by the Youngstown Police Department for his involvement in the November 18, 2007, shooting death of James Dow on Youngstown’s north side.

July 14, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Florida Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested a Niceville man wanted for 1st Degree Murder who is suspected of stabbing and killing his wife several days ago in a town outside of Tulsa, OK. According to reports from the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office on July 12, 2008, Mark Paul Bixler allegedly stabbed his wife Michelle Bixler two times; once in the chest and once in the head before fleeing. Bixler was taken into custody by the Task Force after they found him trying to hide in a bedroom.

July 11, 2008 - U.S. Marshals Service announces the arrest of Wilfred Vangure, 2nd Degree Murder Suspect, in Houston, TX. Wilfred Vangure allegedly shot and killed 19 year old Paxton Simon in Lafayette, LA. The Lafayette Police Department quickly identified the shooter and began the search for 22 year old Wilfred Vangure. The Lafayette Police Department requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in locating and arresting Vangure

July 10, 2008 - Peter J. Elliott, United States Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio, and Police Chief Michael T. Matulavich, Akron Police Department, announce the arrest of America’s Most Wanted (AMW) Fugitive Thomas Lollis. Lollis was arrested by the United States Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force (GCVOFTF), with assistance from the Houston Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff’s Department in Houston, TX. Lollis is charged with the shooting death of a 29 year old black male that occurred in Akron, OH on the 5th of July, 2007

July 10, 2008 - Santos F. Garcia, 22 of Fort Worth was arrested this morning by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in Leander, TX without incident after Garcia was identified as the alleged shooter in a homicide occurring last week in Fort Worth resulting in the death of a 17-year old male.

July 10, 2008 - A fugitive wanted by the Savannah Chatham Metro Police Department was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Statesboro Police Department on July 9, 2008 in Statesboro, GA. Akeem Saad Johnson, 24, was being sought on a warrants issued in Savannah, Georgia charging him with Robbery by Force in an incident that occurred on December 21, 2007.

July 08, 2008 - Following a four-year tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals Service locally conducted another successful Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) from June 22-June28. Over the course of the seven-day operation, Deputy U.S. Marshals, teamed with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, arrested 700 fugitives, 12 for homicide in Eastern New York.

July 07, 2008 - The 23 counties that make up the Middle District of Alabama are much safer this week as local state and federal law enforcement joined forces for a week-long fugitive apprehension effort June 16 and by the time the week was over, 198 fugitives had been arrested and 237 warrants cleared.

July 07, 2008 - Federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies collaborated on “Operation FALCON,” a one-week fugitive round-up June 22 – 27. Led by the U.S. Marshals, Operation FALCON netted 312 fugitives wanted on 346 warrants throughout Arizona. In addition to arresting these fugitives, 10 firearms were taken off the streets.

July 07, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Service, assisted by nearly 100 law enforcement agencies at the federal, state and local level, arrested 112 fugitives and cleared 116 warrants in Minnesota as part of a nationwide operation known as FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally). The campaign resulted in 29 arrests of assault suspects; 14 burglary/larceny suspects; 19 narcotics suspects; and seven robbery suspects.

July 08, 2008 - On Monday, July 7, 2008, Strike Team Officers from the Dallas Fort Worth Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (DFW FAST), arrested Demond Stuard in Dallas, Texas. Three hours later, officers arrested Anton Wallace at the same address. Demond Stuard and Anton Wallace are suspects in an attempted robbery, car-jacking, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon that occurred May 16, 2008, when Stuard and Wallace approached a female in her vehicle in the parking lot of the North Park Mall shopping center in Dallas.

July 03, 2008 - Keith Lee Burns, a violent sexual offender from Montgomery County, Virginia was arrested Wednesday evening by members of the U.S. Marshals, Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (FAST) in San Francisco. Burns was wanted for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender by the Virginia State Police.

July 03, 2008 - Danny Lee Warren, Jr., 31 of North Henderson, Illinois was arrested by the Bettendorf Police Department, Mercer County, Illinois Sheriff’s Office and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task yesterday morning in Bettendorf, Iowa without incident. Warren is the second Williamson County fugitive charged with sex offenses against a minor arrested in the past 90 days outside of Texas based upon outstanding charges stemming from the mid 1990’s.

July 02, 2008 - Washington, D.C. - Fugitive Samuel Israel III, 49, turned himself in to local authorities in Southwick, Mass. “The U.S. Marshals are extremely pleased with this surrender,” said U.S. Marshals Service Director John F. Clark. “When he turned himself in, it was due to the massive pressure placed on Israel by diligent investigators in the Marshals Service and by our partners nationwide.” U.S. Marshal Joseph Guccione, Southern District of New York, additionally praised the efforts of federal, state and local authorities and members of the public who helped with the fugitive pursuit. Federal investigators first learned of Israel’s intent to surrender when a member of his family notified a Marshals Service contact earlier this morning.

July 02, 2008 - The Rio Grande Valley is much safer this week as Operation FALCON 2008 (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) soared over its counties from June 23 – June 29. Operation FALCON is the largest U.S. Marshals Service-led fugitive apprehension initiative. It combines the efforts of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies all working for a common goal, making our community safer. The emphasis of Operation FALCON is violent fugitives, gang related crimes, crimes against children and sex offenses.

July 02, 2008 - Following a four-year tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals locally conducted another successful Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) from June 22 – 28. Led by the U.S. Marshal, Operation FALCON 2008 netted 380 arrests, including 26 sex offenders, and cleared 688 warrants within the Eastern District of Tennessee.

July 02, 2008 - Following a four-year tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals Service locally conducted another successful Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) from June 22– 28. Led by the U.S. Marshals, Operation FALCON-Chicago netted 319 physical arrests while closing an additional 59 warrants within the Chicagoland area.

July 02, 2008 - Following a four-year tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals Service conducted another successful Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) in Clark, Pierce and King Counties from June 23 - 28. Led by the U.S. Marshals sponsored Pacific Northwest Fugitive Apprehension Task Force (PNWFAT), Operation FALCON 2008 resulted in 134 arrests and cleared 159 warrants.

July 01, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Service for the Northern District of Texas conducted another successful Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) from June 24-30. Operation FALCON – North Texas main focus was capturing individuals wanted on felony charges including sexual predators and fugitives wanted for crimes of violence. Utilizing the Marshals Service District Task Force, the Dallas Fort Worth Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (DFW FAST), as the platform to coordinate Operation FALCON, the mission was the most successful FALCON thus far in the North Texas area. Over the course of the seven-day operation, Deputy U.S. Marshals, teamed with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, arrested 444 fugitives clearing 573 felony warrants.

July 01, 2008 - Four southern Alabama counties were the focus of this year’s Operation FALCON. FALCON, the acronym for Federal And Local Cops Organized Nationally, was conducted in the Southern District of Alabama by 89 law enforcement officers from 26 local, state, and federal agencies. Targeted fugitives were wanted for crimes of violence, sex offenders, gang members and narcotics violations. The effort cleared 120 felony warrants.

July 01, 2008 - Following a four-year tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals Service locally conducted another successful Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) from June 16 – 27. Led by the U.S. Marshals, Operation FALCON 2008 netted 333 arrests within the Southern District of Indiana.

June 30, 2008 - Following a four-year tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals Service locally conducted another successful Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) from June 23 – 27. Led by the U.S. Marshals, Operation FALCON 2008 netted 211arrests and cleared 306 warrants within the Northern District of Indiana.

June 30, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals, in coordination with 25 other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies conducted a six day enforcement operation from June 23 to June 28. Operation FALCON, standing for Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally, targeted violent felons, gang members, and sex offenders. FALCON 2008 captured 69 fugitives and cleared 83 warrants in Alaska for crimes including failures to register as a sex offender, distribution of child pornography, drug offenses, assault, burglary, robbery and theft.

June 30, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Service Oregon Fugitive Task Force (OFTF) coordinated the efforts of local, state and federal law enforcement for a four-day fugitive apprehension effort last week, June 24 – 27. FALCON, the acronym for Federal And Local Cops Organized Nationally, soared into the Tri County Metro area and reached all the way to Umatilla County. FALCON 2008 was the shortest week as compared to previous FALCON missions but it packed a punch with 93 total arrests and 122 warrants cleared (some offenders had multiple warrants).

June 27, 2008 - Combining the crime fighting efforts of local law enforcement with the national resources of U.S. marshals, Operation FALCON 2008 netted 151 arrests in a weeklong joint fugitive effort in the Western District or North Carolina. Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) is an annual fugitive apprehension initiative sponsored by the U.S. Marshals Service which creates special task forces of local, state and federal investigators in an effort to apprehend subjects wanted on outstanding charges of certain categories of crimes. Special emphasis is placed on sex offenders, violent crimes, drug violations, and gang affiliation.

June 27, 2008 - U.S. Marshal Peter A. Lawrence, in conjunction with the U.S. Attorney Terrance Flynn, announces the results of a week-long fugitive warrant initiative that combined federal, state, and local law enforcement officers to hunt down and capture dangerous fugitives in the Western part of the District. This operation is a combination of a federal task force called Operation FALCON 2008 (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally), and a New York State Task Force called Rolling Thunder III. The operation began Monday and concludes today.

June 27, 2008 - Delaware was not the place to be last week if you were a fugitive. Following a four-year tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals Service locally conducted another successful Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) June 16-22. Led by the U.S. Marshal, Operation FALCON 2008 netted 41 arrests within the District of Delaware

June 26, 2008 - Following a four-year tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals Service locally conducted another week-long fugitive sweep known as Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally). Led by the U.S. Marshals Service, Operation FALCON is a large-scale law enforcement effort focused on locating and arresting fugitives. From June 15- 21, Deputy U.S. Marshals teamed up with their counterparts from other state, local and federal law enforcement agencies and conducted Operation FALCON in various counties that make up the federal Southern District of Mississippi. Over the course of the seven-day operation, Operation FALCON teams located or arrested approximately 90 fugitives and cleared over 100 felony warrants.

June 26, 2008 - Following a four year tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals Service locally conducted another successful Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) from June 16 – 22. Led by the U.S. Marshals, Operation FALCON 2008 netted 434 arrests within the Western District of Arkansas. Over the course of the seven-day operation, Deputy U.S. Marshals teamed with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, arrested 434 fugitives, including 26 sex offenders, and cleared over 800 warrants in the Western District of Arkansas

June 27, 2008 - Members of the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force captured 34 year old Richard Rohn during a felony vehicle stop in Florida. Rohn, a resident of Gadsden County, was currently being sought by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for the offense of Armed Robbery with a Firearm. Rohn had been the target of a fugitive investigation by the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force after the case was referred to the task force by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on June 17, 2008

June 24, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Service Mexico Investigative Liaison program efforts resulted in the arrest of a fugitive wanted on sex offense charges in Arizona. In a joint investigation, the fugitive was detained by Mexican law enforcement officials in Sonora, Mexico on June 21, 2008. Humberto Guadalupe Hernandez, a U.S. citizen, was wanted for Probation Violations by the Superior Court in Pima County.

June 24, 2008 - Following a four-year tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals Service locally conducted another successful Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) from June 9– 14. Led by the U.S. Marshals Service, Operation FALCON 2008 netted 292 arrests within the Southern District of Georgia.

June 24, 2008 - Following a tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals Service locally conducted another successful Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) from June 15 – 21. Led by the U.S. Marshal Service, Operation FALCON is a nationwide law enforcement effort. Over the course of the seven-day operation, Deputy U.S. Marshals, teamed with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, arrested 107 fugitives – including a Pittsburgh man charged with homicide, nine sex offenders and three documented gang members – and cleared 132 warrants. Over $70,000, two firearms, 153 stamp bags of heroin and approximately 100 grams of crack cocaine were also seized.

June 24, 2008 - Following a four-year tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals Service locally conducted another successful Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) from June 14-20. Led by the United States Marshals Service, Operation FALCON 2008 netted 227 arrests within the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

June 23, 2008 - Deputy U.S. Marshals joined forces with numerous law enforcement agencies within the state and surrounding area last week in carrying out a fugitive apprehension initiative. The sweep resulted in the apprehension of 112 fugitives and cleared 133 outstanding warrants. Led by the U.S. Marshals Service, Operation FALCON, the acronym for Federal And Local Cops Organized Nationally, targeted violent offenders, gang members and sexual offenders. Of the 112 fugitives arrested, 6 were wanted for sexual offenses.

June 23, 2008 - On June 16, the arrest of David Montosa on Treasure Island ended the U.S. Marshals Service Northern California fugitive operation known as Operation FALCON. Montosa was wanted by Salinas Police on a sexual battery incident in 2005. Led by the U.S. Marshals Service, Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) is a multi-agency fugitive apprehension effort targeting persons wanted for sexual offenses, violent crimes, and narcotics violations. Over 50 arrests were made during the week-long operation, which began June 8. This is the fourth consecutive year that the U.S. Marshals Service has conducted the FALCON fugitive operation.

June 20, 2008 - Following a four-year tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals Service locally conducted another successful Operation FALCON- Federal And Local Cops Organized Nationally – in the District of Connecticut June 16 – 20. Led by the U.S. Marshal, Operation FALCON netted approximately 200 arrests within the District of Connecticut

June 20, 2008 - On Thursday, June 19, 2008, 38 year old Charles Ferguson was arrested in the Houston, Texas airport after he was expelled from the Republic of Mexico. Ferguson is charged in a March 2006 indictment in Jackson County, MS for two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. In August 2007, Ferguson failed to appear in court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

June 19, 2008 - Things just got tougher for a man his friends describe as a “cracked-out maniac,” and who was pursued on kidnapping, armed robbery and aggravated assault charges by Mississippi authorities. Today, Elliott Evan Stamps became the focus of a nationwide manhunt by the United States Marshals Service, which added him to the agency’s famed “15 Most Wanted Fugitive” list

June 19, 2008 - Following a four-year tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals Service conducted another successful Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) from June 8 – 14. Led by the U.S. Marshals Service, Operation FALCON 2008 targeted fugitives throughout the 33 counties that comprise the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Over the course of this seven-day operation, Deputy U.S. Marshals teamed up with their law enforcement partners to achieve tremendous results – 181 fugitives were arrested, and 228 warrants were cleared.

June 19, 2008 - In one of the largest fugitive initiatives ever undertaken in the Muskogee area, the U.S. Marshals, teamed with law enforcement agencies throughout eastern Oklahoma, arrested 290 fugitives and cleared 493 warrants during a recent week-long 10 county sweep. By utilizing the expertise and the capabilities of 33 participating law enforcement agencies, the operation ended with huge results. Of the 290 fugitives arrested, 14 were wanted for weapons violations, 108 narcotics arrests, and four non-compliant sexual offenders

June 18, 2008 - A Jamaican national, accused in the brutal double murder of a young South Florida couple, was arrested early this morning by Jamaican authorities. David Clarke, 26, was recently added to the U.S. Marshals “15 Most Wanted Fugitive’ list for his alleged participation in the June 2007 murders in Lauderhill, FL

June 18, 2008 - Roanoke, VA - A suspicious package addressed to the Clerk of Court in Roanoke prompted U.S. Marshals to call in the Virginia State Police and Roanoke City Police bomb units this morning. Out of an “abundance of caution” a bomb sniffing dog from the Roanoke Police Department was called in to inspect the package, which proved to be negative for explosives. Based on the investigation, the package was opened without incident and deemed to be safe

June 17, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals North Florida Violent Fugitive Task Force captured three wanted fugitives today, two of them in Pensacola, FL. The Marshals and members of the Task Force from Escambia and Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Offices and Escambia Patrol deputies arrested Arthur Ishkhanian. In 2006, Ishkhanian aka “Lucky” was charged with conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamines in Philadelphia. Minutes later the Task Force officers went to a house in Pensacola in search of 36 year old Charles Steagall, a wanted sex offender. Also arrested by U.S. Marshals in Rochester, NY was Okaloosa County fugitive Eddie Lee Jackson. Jackson is wanted on a 1996 warrant for violating his probation on trafficking cocaine charges. Jackson remains in jail in New York pending extradition back to Florida.

June 16, 2008 - In the largest fugitive initiative ever undertaken by the United States Marshals Service’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force across the state of Georgia, the U.S. Marshals Service, teamed with law enforcement agencies throughout the region, arrested more than 1,250 fugitives and cleared more than 1,450 warrants during the six day state-wide sweep. Led by the U.S. Marshals Service, Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) targets persons wanted for sexual offenses, other violent crimes and narcotics violations. Operation FALCON took place in Georgia from June 9-14; this is the fourth consecutive year that the U.S. Marshals Service has conducted the FALCON fugitive sweep operation throughout the country.

June 16, 2008 - A day of terror for one South Carolina family came to a happy ending Monday night when a U.S. Marshals Task Force, assisted by the Virginia State Police, the Giles County Sheriff’s Office and the Pearisburg Police Department apprehended Robert William Custer, 45, Pearisburg, VA. Custer was arrested without incident, even though he was considered to be armed and extremely dangerous after abducting his estranged wife and their 4 year old son in Lexington, South Carolina earlier today.
