10-EOUSA-005About the Office: The office is ideally situated among two Metro stations, one block from the Judiciary Square metro stop, and a short walk to Union Station and Verizon Center (formerly MCI Center). In addition, we offer creative work solutions in which we provide compressed work schedules and transit subsidy.
The Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA) was rated in the top 20 of 246 agencies and deemed the best place to work. This position is located in the General Counsel’s Office which is a fast-paced component of the Department of Justice and is responsible for providing a full range of administrative and legal advice and services to the 94 United States Attorneys Offices (USAO) throughout the United States, GUAM, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. The USAOs range in size from approximately 25 to 700 employees and each office is headed by a Presidentially-Appointed United States Attorney. Responsibilities and Opportunity Offered: The General Counsel’s Office (GCO) provides timely and accurate legal advice and litigation support to United States Attorney’s Offices (USAO’s) and the Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA) on a wide range of legal issues including disciplinary or adverse actions, performance management issues, and any other employment-related issues; litigative support for administrative litigation; government ethics matters, such as conflicts of interest, recusals, outside activities, and financial disclosure reports; questions concerning recusals of USAOs from pending cases or matters; property damage claims filed by Federal employees; and procurement and fiscal law issues.
GCO is a very dynamic and fast paced office. As Deputy General Counsel, reports to the General Counsel and normally supervises approximately 8 attorneys and several professional non-attorney staff members of the General Counsel’s Office. The Deputy General Counsel also is required on occasion to teach at the National Advocacy Center and travel to different districts to problem solve and instruct on management issues. The individual selected can expect a challenging, demanding, and fast-paced environment and will be exposed to management concerns and top management officials within EOUSA and throughout the entire Department of Justice.

Qualifications: Required qualifications: Previous supervisory experience which indicates solid supervisory skills; experience in the areas of personnel and EEO litigation, federal employment law, government ethics, federal procurement law, and investigations; sound judgment; good interpersonal skills; and a strong work ethic. Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have at least 4 years post-J.D. experience to qualify at the GS-15 level.
Evaluation Method: Qualified applicants may be further evaluated to determine those who are best qualified. Applicants must submit a writing sample.
Travel: Travel will be required.
Salary Information: GS-15: $ $120,830 to $153,200 per annum (including locality pay).
Location: Washington D.C.
Relocation Expenses: Payment of relocation expenses will not be authorized.
