
The Office of Dispute Resolution (ODR) offers unpaid internship opportunities each semester and during the summer. Interns gain valuable experience and an inside view of the essential role of alternative dispute resolution processes in the effective settlement of Department civil litigation throughout the country. Students with an interest in alternative dispute resolution are encouraged to apply for these positions, located in Washington, DC.
Requirements
Applicants for an internship must be a United States citizen and are required to submit a cover letter, a resume and a short writing sample (no more than 8 pages) to ODR by the deadlines listed below. Please note that every student internship is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a security clearance. Under no circumstances will a student be allowed to work in any capacity before his or her security clearance is successfully completed.
Application Deadlines
Spring Program
ODR will be accepting applications for the Spring Program up until October 1st. Those applicants who are accepted into the program will be notified by November 1st. Accepted applicants must submit their completed security application package by December 1st. The Program will begin around January 15th.
Summer Program
ODR will be accepting application requests for the Summer Program until February 1st. Those applicants who are accepted into the program will be notified by March 15th. Accepted applicants must submit their completed security application package by April 15th. The Program will begin around June 1st.
Fall Program
ODR will be accepting application requests for the Fall Program until June 1st. Those applicants who are accepted into the program will be notified by July 1st. Accepted applicants must submit their completed security application package by July 15th. The Program will begin around September 1st.
