JUDGE RULES IN FAVOR OF UNITED STATES IN WINSTAR CASE

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Judge Bohdan Futey Thursday entered judgment for the United States in the Bluebonnet Savings case. In his decision, the judge rejected the plaintiffs' claim for $175,882,000 in damages.

"We are pleased with the Court's decision," said David W. Ogden, Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Department's Civil Division. "It's clear that the court gave the claim thorough consideration and reached the correct result."

The decision followed a five-week trial. This is the fifth decision in the approximately 100 so-called Winstar cases that are pending.
