STATEMENT FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL REGARDING
JOHN WALKER LINDH'S GUILTY PLEA:
"Today marks an important victory in America's war on terrorism. By going to Afghanistan and fighting shoulder to shoulder alongside the Taliban, John Walker Lindh allied himself with terrorists who reject our values of freedom and democracy and turned his back on the United States of America. He will now spend the next twenty years in prison; nearly as long as he has been alive.
"As part of the agreement, Lindh agreed to cooperate fully with the government, including to provide information and testify if necessary at trials or other proceedings, including military tribunals. Thanks to the hard work of our outstanding group of prosecutors, Lindh has been charged and convicted for his crimes in just a little over five months."
