        SHANGRAW NAMED UNITED STATES TRUSTEE FOR REGION 19


     WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Barbara A. Shangraw has been appointed 
United States Trustee for Region 19 by Attorney General Janet 
Reno.

     Shangraw, who will assume her duties today, July 24, 1995,
will oversee the administration of bankruptcy cases in Colorado, 
Utah, and Wyoming.  The principal office for Region 19 is located 
in Denver, Colorado.

     Shangraw brings to the United States Trustees Program 
extensive experience in all phases of bankruptcy law.  For the 
past three years, she has served as the Assistant General Counsel 
of the Denver Legal Division of the Resolution Trust Corporation, 
an agency she joined in 1989.  Prior to her work at RTC, she was 
a bankruptcy attorney with the Federal Deposit Insurance 
Corporation.  From 1984 to 1986, Shangraw was in private practice 
with the firm of McKie and Associates, where she represented both 
creditors and debtors in chapter 7, 11, and 13, and also served 
as a chapter 7 trustee.  Before that, she was a law clerk to 
Judge John McGrath in the United States Bankruptcy Court in 
Denver, Colorado, and she worked as an attorney in a Chapter 13 
Trustee's Office.

     Shangraw received her Bachelor of Science degree in 
Political Science from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee 
in 1979, and her Juris Doctor in 1982 from the University of 
Colorado School of Law.

     Shangraw is married and has three children.
