Stacy Ludwig became the Acting Director of the Professional Responsibility Advisory Office (PRAO) in June 2014. PRAO provides professional responsibility advice and training to Department attorneys. Prior to serving as the Acting Director, Ms. Ludwig was PRAO’s Deputy Director starting in December 2008 and before that an Attorney Advisor. Ms. Ludwig began her career with the Department at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia where she represented the United States in civil defensive and affirmative cases. She was appointed Senior Litigation Counsel in 1999.
Ms. Ludwig has been a member of the adjunct faculty at Georgetown University Law School, George Washington University Law School and American University’s Washington College of Law where she taught professional responsibility courses. Ms. Ludwig was appointed to the District of Columbia Bar's Legal Ethics Committee, which is responsible for writing opinions interpreting the District of Columbia Rules of Professional Conduct.
Ms. Ludwig earned her Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of Wisconsin.
